Sparkling sea, glorious blue skies, sunny weather and lists of entertainment options all combined together in a neatly packaged taste of heaven. Welcome to Mauritius – in marvelous Meropa style.
Meropa’s Events Division recently staged the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority’s stand at the World Travel Market Africa 2016 Expo in Cape Town at the CTICC. WTM Africa is a vibrant, culturally diverse, must-attend business-to-business travel and tourism exhibition event, presenting a wide range of destinations and industry sectors to South African, African and International travel professionals.
Mauritius sparkled as a showcase holiday option alongside other destinations, tour operators and travel experts. Meropa helped Devendra Babooa, Research and Development Manager for MTPA, give visitors a “taste of Mauritius” while showing them scores of other amazing activities and opportunities Mauritius has to offer.
On the stand, we had tour operators, hotels and the national carrier, Air Mauritius all giving visitors more information on the services they can offer to Mauritius travelers. In our kitchen area we had free mocktails served in three delicious flavours – free to anyone who visited the stand.
The main attraction was definitely the smell of traditional Mauritian cuisine, which was cooked during a live demonstration on the stand by celebrity chef, Claire Allen, who was also a Masterchef contestant. Our friendly hosts and hostesses engaged with guests by handing them brochures, telling them more about Mauritius and inviting them to experience Mauritius through our virtual reality glasses.
Mauritius-inspired gifts ensured the visitors took the experience and memory away with them: each received a branded beach glass, a pair of beach thongs and a tasty Napolitaine – which is a traditional Mauritian biscuit.
